Penis Chafing – Stop the Scratching with Shea Butter

Uncomfortable itching and chafing has caused many a man to do some creative stretching and wiggling in his jeans.  He may perhaps try a subtle stretch in the crowded supermarket, or a few spontaneous lunges while walking the dog in the park, hoping his maneuvers will do the trick and readjust his package for a few minutes of relief – and that doesn’t even begin to address the itching that comes with it.  Chafing is a common and often embarrassing problem that seems to rear its ugly head at the most inopportune times.  While certain precautions can be taken to prevent chafing from occurring, it can happen despite one’s best efforts.  When chafing does occur, daily penis TLC using a gentle moisturizer is the optimal solution to return the penis skin to its natural, healthy state.

What is Chafing?

Chafing is a condition in which the skin becomes red and irritated from uncomfortable skin-on-skin friction, or from the skin rubbing on fabric.  While it is very common during exercise, it can also happen in regular day-to-day activity.  Chafing can range from a mildly uncomfortable or stinging sensation, to a raw, painful, burning feeling.  Excessive chafing that is not properly treated can leave the skin cracked and bleeding, and in severe situations, it can lead to infection.

What Are Some Causes of Chafing?

There are many causes for chafing of the nether regions:

  • Tight-fitting clothing
  • Excessive sweating
  • Vigorous exercise
  • Obesity
  • Skin rubbing together
  • Hyperhydrosis (localized sweating thought to be caused by stress)
  • Side effect of medication, toxins, or other substances

Can Chafing be prevented?

There are a few steps a man can take to eliminate some of the more common causes of chafing.

Stay Dry—Damp or wet skin chafes more easily, thus, excessive sweating may lead to irritated skin.  Avoid wearing a wet swimsuit for long periods of time and change out of sweaty shorts after a good workout to keep the area dry.  Men who are particularly prone to sweating may find relief from using talcum powder to keep the area dry.

Dress Right—Wearing proper clothing, especially when working out, may help to eliminate excessive rubbing of extra fabric on the area.  Workout bottoms should not be so loose as to have abundant fabric, nor should it be too tight or restrictive.  Cotton bottoms that are breathable may help to reduce excessive sweating which can lead to chafing.

Hydrate—Keeping skin moisturized, but not wet, is a step towards preventing chafing, as dry skin is more easily irritated.  Being dehydrated leads to dry, cracked skin, which is one reason why it is so important to drink plenty of fluids.  Using a moisturizer, especially one containing natural Shea butter or cocoa butter, will also keep the skin healthy and supple, which in turns prevents chafing.

Advantages of Using Shea Butter to Soothe Penis Chafing

If the physical reasons for penis chafing cannot be eliminated by a lifestyle change, such as a change in underwear or clothing, the only option may be to treat the chafed skin and try to protect it as much as possible.  Shea butter has powerful moisturizing properties that soothe and heal dry, cracked skin.  It also has anti-inflammatory properties, making it the perfect ingredient to use on red, irritated skin.  Shea butter can be applied all over the body, including the penis, and is found in an assortment of body and hair care products.  Shea butter can also be found in a high-quality penis vitamin creme that is specially formulated for the care of a man’s most sensitive skin (most professionals recommend Man 1 Man Oil).  A penis cream enriched with Shea butter and other vitamins and minerals may help restore dry skin and soothe irritations of the skin caused by uncomfortable chafing.
